Horrible! Cancelled our flight after almost 3hr delay. 5 1/2hrs of our day wasted in an airport, only to have to figure out what hotel we need to stay in, transportation and contacting our jobs so they know we will miss work. Rebooked us for a next day flight and didn’t keep our premium seating from our original flight. The worse!!!

Dropping off tagged bags was a nightmare. There was one agent and three baggage crew helping to grab bags. We stood in line for 40 minutes while the agent, presumably, helped customers with other needs (and we were towards the front of the line which was no less than 50-75 people long) before a random guy came up and asked if we could just bring our luggage up to the baggage crew if it was tagged and they said yes to bring it up. The guy told him that ALL these people are simply waiting to drop their tagged bags. Some communication would have been good. All that needed to happen was for one of those baggage people (or the agent) to let the line know if your bags are tagged, simply bring them up to a baggage handler over at the side.
Good. They checked my bag FOR FREE so I didnt have to try to hoist it up into the overhead compartment. Also, they served free beverages, which I appreciated.
I ordered the fruit and cheese plate on both outbound and inbound flights, the cheese portion on the inbound flight was half of what it had been on the outbound flight. 🙁
The airline said get there three hours before the flight if you do not have the new Real-ID. Except nobody is at the check in desk and i had to stand in line for 30-45 minutes for somebody to start checking in/accepting baggage.
So much better coming back to Seattle than my trip TO Chicago. This crew actually communicated with the passengers!! Rebecca, one of the crew, stopped and visited with me about sign language. She should get a bonus of some kind!! She's a very neat gal!! It was still warm inside the plane, but it was packed! I still think you could do better than those teeny tiny pretzels! These were spicy and tasted terrible! All in all, still a better ride coming home. Go Seahawks!!
Arrival delay waiting for another flight to be towed and deboarded
Express the need to arrive at the airport more than 2 hours ahead of BOARDING TIME due to super slow security lines at the Lihue airport. 4 ppl in a party of 9 nearly missed the boarding.
This flight was delayed but otherwise comfortable except for some turbulence. The crew was minimally engaged with us but nothing particularly bad in our interaction. The pilot was incomprehensible mumbling whenever he got on the air - honestly, impossible to understand. However, there were two flights that multiple people were trying to connect to that were leaving in 10 minutes after our flight landed (one to Alaska and one to Oregon). The passengers in the back reported to me that they asked the flight attendents to assist them in getting out first to try to make those flights- they reported that they were told that this would not occur because "people aren't so nice". NOBODY from the flight crew announced that there were people who needed to catch a tight connection and to please let them off first. I was in row 16 and when I heard this, I made an announcement myself and worked to get those trying to make those flights out first. Unfortunately, a lot of people were already in the aisles and these folks were slowed getting out. But what is wrong with the Alaska team that they wouldn't help those passengers???? One of the things I love about flying Alaska is that generally the crews are special people who seem to enjoy their jobs (despite the challenges of working with the public) and try to assist however they can. I would have liked to see the Alaska crew make an announcement to assist getting passengers with a tight connection due to the delayed flight out first. I think that Alaska often stands out because of the niceness of the crews, but this was a fail. Honestly, a huge fail. Please do better next time. I really believe in Alaska and fly preferentially on Alaska, but that means standing out from the crowd to do the right thing in being kind when we can.
The plane was in pretty rough shape-- worn down with a bit of a smell. The crew as less than stellar as well.
Hawaiian and Alaska are at opposite ends of the Seattle airport. Apparently, during this time of transition through their merger, only people flying to Hawaii should go to the Hawaiian desk. So, I had to carry my luggage the entire length of the airport. Alaska's desks were sort of a temporary set up behind a wall, and even after all this, they (Alaska) had a great deal of difficulty confirming that I was on the flight, or that I had paid my checked bag fee. Now, they did try to compensate for all this confusion. There was an impressive number of agents, actively engaging and working with customers - not just standing behind the counter, but going out to them with pads in hand. It took some time, but I was squared away, and was apparently upgraded to a business class seat with lots of legroom (much appreciated). I was told this transition would last till August.
Really enjoyed their food treats, staff was friendly and they kept our seats together, check in was excellent, boarding passes uploaded to my wallet! I would definitely recommend Hawaiian airlines to friends and family! 🌺
I booked through Hawaiian which was supposed to have merged with Alaskan but offered free checked bags and said there would be seat selection at the airport. This was not honored by Alaskan Airlines and they even went out of their way to say “we are not Hawaiian and Hawaiian cannot pick seats on our airline ”. They told us that we could not change seats and that all tickets booked through Hawaiian were “saver fares”. The staff was rude and said that we would be helped last after they take care of the customers that booked through Alaskan. Once we got on the flight in our middle seats they played a message that said they have merged with Hawaiian and you can book on either website which would have been funny if we were not so uncomfortable. All in all it was a terrible experience and I do not recommend that anyone fly Alaskan unless they absolutely have to.
Absolutely terrible experience. Kayak issued tickets had errors and Hawaiian/Alaska would do nothing to help. Ended up buying a new flight and had to forfeit these tickets. I will never again do business with Kayak, Hawaiian or Alaska.
Great service, fast internet, got a lot of work done during the flight.
Cheap food no options for vegans, no entertainment, no snacks. Too much advertisement about their credit card. Next flight will be Delta Airlines.
Checking baggage at Honolulu was a real mess. No signs directing where to go.
I wasn’t able to check in online at either website Hawaiian or Alaskan. I called Hawaiian to check in the night before and was put on hold for 1h 30 min with no customer service help. Gave up and hung up. When I went to ticketing counter couldn’t check in at computer. Went to counter and they let 6 people check in before me. By the time I was able to check in all the seats were gone and got the worst seat assignment back seat with no reclining chair and next to the bathroom. Had I been able to check in online for both flights I don’t think I would have gotten stuck with a bad seat assignment. When I asked Alaskan check in person why I wasn’t able to check in online he said he couldn’t help me or tell me because he didn’t know. Never have had suck bad experience with either Alaskan or Hawaiian when they were not merged together.
We boarded an hour and a half late because a coffee maker leaked in the plane. Then we had to wait for awhile to get off the plane because another plane was in our spot at the terminal. I had plans when I landed that I had to skip so it was pretty disappointing.
When I was not allowed by Alaska airlines to board due to time and difficulty pre-check the night before and kiosk did not work when I arrived at the airport and then finally told Alaska airlines is where I had to go. Not Hawaiian airlines that they had moved. That's when I was treated with the utmost disrespect by Alaska airlines agent that I was not allowed to board. And that might ticket to return was canceled and I hadn't even left yet when they gave me the option for the next flight to raise my flight price to $300 one way. I bought a $96 round trip ticket and they're trying to gouge me for $600 in addition and canceling my return flight.
