Top tips for finding cheap flights to Ireland

  • Book at least 1 week before departure in order to get a below-average price.
  • High season is considered to be May, June and July. The cheapest month to fly from Stewart Intl. is November.
  • Instead of looking for flights out of the smaller New York Stewart International Airport (SWF) between New York City and Albany, consider making the 1-2h trip to New York City and fly from there. There are more flight options to Ireland departing out of major airports like John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
  • When looking for flights to Ireland, the main airport to arrive at is Dublin Airport (DUB). There will be more options for these routes and it puts you in the capital city of Ireland.
  • As you’re planning for your trip from New York to Ireland, remember to exchange USD into the local Euro (EUR) currency. The main airports in Ireland, like the Dublin (DUB) and Shannon (SNN) airports, have currency exchange desks located in their arrival halls.
  • If you’re traveling to Ireland with children and plan on renting a vehicle, make sure you have the right child restraints. In Ireland, all children under 150 cm (4ft 11in) or 36kg (79lb) must be in an appropriate child seat. Check beforehand if your car rental agency can provide one.
  • If you’re traveling with a pet or service animal from New York Stewart International Airport (SWF) to Ireland, you will need to get them prepared for the long trip. The terminal has a pet relief area and outdoors space for them to go to the restroom and run around before boarding.

Again, lines for boarding are a problem in iceland. The flight itself was fine and very smooth. No complaints. We would definitely fly icelandair again.

Had a screaming child next to us. Not the airline’s fault but still annoying.

Highly disorganized company, poor customer service. Packed seats on a 737 for a trans-atlantic 9 hour flight. Greedy company policies, no meal or snack provided for 9 hour flight.

Icelandair flight was excellent. The checkin and security arrangements for Saga Premium passengers at Newark was very poor - our checkin opened much later than the normal and our security queue simply led us to the back of the normal queue. Someone was having a laugh surely!

Never took flight. See previous comment on trip from Boston to Reykjavik. Used a different airline that i had to find and book.

The flight was on time and the crew was nice. I did not like the fact that my husband and I were seated in different rows. I feel pressured by airlines to pay more to choose our seats. We will sit anywhere, but we shouldn't have to pay to sit together. I also think they should serve at least a snack that's free.

One of the worst airlines I ever flew. Boarding is a disaster, they are always late, the planes are overly crowded. Everyone on my flight lost their connection because they were 2h late. Reykjavik is also not the best airport out there.

My only area of issue was the flight was rather warm and the knobs for cool air didn't allow much cool air to come through. Everything else was great.

Everything was great! My only critique is 25 euro for wifi is wild, but I get it

Good, but I feel there should be a separate boarding line for seniors

Friendly crew who apologised and explained reason for delay. Good on board service. Rather cramped seating. Late departure.

Very sad, couldn't stop crying. Was an hour delay in Ireland and when we got to Canada the flight was boarded and couldn't get on. Was the last flight of the day. Now in a hotel waiting on a stand by.I have to got o work, so I'll go first available while my son stays in the hotel til one's available

Was not aware that Aer Lingus was like the cut-rate services in the states, with no food or beverage (other then 3.50 Euro coffee) and no screens for entertainment. Was a great flight, but not much in the way of services.

Both flights late. Almost missed connecting flight and flight staff not willing to help expedite us off the plane.

We couldn't talk to aer lingus we had issues with the flight change and aer lingus made us talk to kayak

Amenity kits were never handed out. There was zero friendliness and assistance by crew. Food was uneatable. One drink was offered and no wine, with dinner or before or after. Cocktails and beverages were not encouraged and when I asked for water, none was given. Poorest, most cramped business class flight I’ve ever been on.

Probably my favorite airline and way to go to Europe. Everything went smoothly! Food was tasty, crew was pleasant. Really cannot complain!

Golf Bags never made it on the flight. Very expensive golf bag and. Clubs, shoes, clothing. Will file a claim against Aer Lingus

Horrible. Garbage airline. Due to the strike we got a replacement plane/crew. I didn't get my exit row seat I paid for. Food was horrible. Plane was hot and didn't have AC vents.

The first leg of my 2 flights were delayed, causing me to miss my second flight and have to stay the whole night in Dublin. Super upset with this experience, and I still need to figure out how to get compensated for this.

It would have been better to have USB charging ports available on the longer haul Flight that one of 2 hours

Was very good Staff was great. No tv monitors tho. So long flights make it longer

The worst. No free beverages. No entertainment on an overseas flight. Not enough space. Never again.

Play is affordable! Only way we fly from the states to Europe. Left late but arrived on time

have screens on backs of chairs...offer free snacks and water

Boarding and crew was great. Flight was cold, need layers. Deplaning was hard. We had to take stairs off the plane and I was separated from my travel companion because we were not seated together and they would not let him wait for me to get off so we were forced onto different shuttles.

Check in and boarding was easy, crew was cheerful. Not much to read or do on the plane and our neighboring passengers were talking loudly so we could not sleep. But overall good. Great coffee.

Flyplay is the only way I travel to Europe. Had a 15 hr layover in Iceland. Normally this would suck, but I regret a car and saw the black sand beaches, several waterfalls and sky lagoon. And finished with lamb at cafe Loki.

did not get the seats we had specially paid for

This is a no frills airline. You cant expect much for the price. Low cost flight, clean, nice staff. That's all I need for the price. If you want more, book with another airline and pay more. For Europe trips, PLAY is the ONLY airline I use
