FAQs - booking Tahiti flights

  • Are there hotels near Fa'a'ā International Airport (PPT)?

Travelers arriving late at PPT shouldn’t worry as the establishment is located close to numerous hotels where you can spend a night. Typically, such facilities provide airport shuttles, which are ideal for those with heavy luggage. Tahiti Airport Motel is a nearby hotel that lies within walking distance of the airport.

  • Are there car rentals at Bora Bora Airport (BOB)?

You can easily rent a car to conveniently enjoy your tour once you land at BOB. Avis, Europcar, Keddy, and Sunycars are popular service providers at this establishment, with most of them operating off-site. Some of these companies provide a French-Polynesia rental car shuttle bus service that runs regularly from the terminal to their rental offices.

  • Are there any services for passengers with limited mobility flying from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Tahiti?

LAX has toilets equipped for the disabled located at Terminal 2 on the Departure Level. Furthermore, each passenger terminal features public phones wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. Deaf or speech-impaired passengers will find a Telecommunications Device (TDD) situated near the Travelers Aid public information booths.

  • Is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) pet-friendly?

LAX features several animal relief areas for the convenience of travelers planning to bring their furry friends on a trip to Tahiti. These amenities are found pre-security between Airline Terminals T1 and T2, and post-security near Gate 13, behind California Pizza Kitchen. All these spaces are equipped with waste disposal bags. However, check with your airline regarding their pet policy when booking your flight.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Los Angeles to Tahiti?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Los Angeles to Tahiti.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Los Angeles to Tahiti?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Tahiti from Los Angeles is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Los Angeles to Tahiti?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Tahiti with an airline and back to Los Angeles with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Los Angeles to Tahiti?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Tahiti from Los Angeles up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Tahiti

  • When booking your flight from Los Angeles to Tahiti, you will find numerous carriers that operate one-stop or two-stop flights along this route, mainly with layovers in their hubs or capitals. Alaska Airlines makes a stop in San Francisco (SFO), as Spirit Airlines transits through Las Vegas (LAS). However, San Francisco International Airport (SFO) remains the most popular stopover airport between Los Angeles and Tahiti.
  • Air Tahiti Nui is the only airline offering nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Tahiti, departing from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and landing at Fa'a'ā International Airport (PPT). Most of these nonstop flights usually depart from LAX in the evening.
  • LAX serves as a hub for various airlines, including Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Airlines. Alaska Airlines uses Terminal 3, American Airlines departs through Terminal 4, United Airlines operates in both Terminals 6, 7, and 8, and Delta serves its clients through Terminal 5. Each of these carriers operates a lounge at LAX.
  • More flights arrive in Tahiti via PPT than Bora Bora Airport (BOB). Usually, most flights flying to Bora Bora from LAX make a layover at PPT, before landing at BOB. The flight time between the two airports is about 50 minutes and are all provided by Air Tahiti as nonstop connections.
  • LAX operates easy and convenient parking for travelers looking to drop off their cars ahead of their voyage to Tahiti. The parking spaces are segmented into on-site and off-site, each offering hourly, overnight, and long-term parking. Short-term parking lots sit across the terminal building, while a courtesy shuttle runs regularly between the off-site parking and the terminals.

I’m not an airline food fan but the service was excellent!

I’m not an airline food fan but the service was excellent!

There is no legroom for someone who is even a little taller than average. The woman in front of me leaned her seat back all the way, so that my knees were wedged up against her seat. When I asked her to adjust it, she flatly refused, and the flight attendant basically told me that I would have to put up with it - for an 11-hour flight! I will not use this airline again.

Really good experience. Was reasonably priced, Boarding was easy, on time, and service was great. No complaints at all :)

I always love flying with Air Tahiti Nui: the flower when you board, the colors of the pillows/blankets, the fun safety video, etc. It brings the charm of Tahiti to the plane, which is very relaxing. Food was great. Only weakness is the entertainment system, which did not have a lot of interesting content, so I ended up watching Netflix shows I had downloaded to my phone. The other issue was not related to Air Tahiti but the Seattle airport, which made us wait for 1 hour at security. Ruined the whole flying experience and almost made me loose my next flight.

The service was really nice. The wine was great and the food was good. More water offered during the flight would have been nice.

Booked family of 4. None of us were seated together. Desk agent would not make any seat adjustments. Gate agent would not make any seat adjustments. Had to negotiate once on board with other passengers to trade seats. Don’t understand why you would separate seating of family all booked on same reservation. Was not able to select seats on Kayak nor Air Tahiti prior to airport.

Seats were roomy. Staff was great offering free drinks and refills constantly. Everything was very clean.

The sound system was so bad I could not watch movies.

Reclining seats with leg rest! Amazing flight crew! Loved the food! Everything was perfect!

The crew was very friendly and welcoming. Boarding was calm and organized. Take off and Landing was perfect and in time.

I actually received a notification from kayak on email but not one by text from Delta when my departure gait changed and I almost missed my flight

New boarding doesn't make sense. Filling front first is slow.

Delta flight was great from the check in all the way to arrival. However, I had a very bad experience. I requested a wheelchair and the wheelchair employee that went to pick me up from the plane in Boston to bring me to the baggage claims told me I have to pay him. I was under the impression that it was a free service and I usually give tips but the person forced me to pay and since I said no because I was upset with his demand when my daughter walked in to pick me up he demanded payment from my daughter who paid him thinking maybe now it is a charged service.

Horrible. Grateful to be alive but spent 13 hours at airport only to return back to my familys house and flight changed to next day. They tried to fix a part on plane, had no back up plane and after 10 hours , reattempted the flight and it STILL wasn't fixed. We got a meal voucher and rescheduled flight but there should be some other compensation for the 15 hours spent in airport

My seat was changed at the last minute and I was moved to the last row, right next to the bathroom despite selecting my seat well in advance. I was also made to check my carry on due to space but when I got on the plane there was significant empty overhead space. Picking up my carry on from the luggage carousel added time to my trip which had already been extended due to delay.

There was plenty of overhead room but half of the passengers were told they had to check their carryon bags. My partner and I checked in as early as possible and our seats were split across the aisle.

Flew first class so everything was great. But maybe because the flights were red eye, no meals were served, just chips. I flew Alaska Air 1st class at 9PM (2 hour flight) and they served beef short rib sliders!

There was a loud squeaky sound the whole time we were flying.

I didn’t not like that I could not select my seat and ended up with the worse seat.

The landing was bad and the hostess came two times and i was sleeping but when she served the person that nexts to me I woke up and she didn’t even asked me if I need any drink or snacks two times!!!!

I did not get my baggage at my final destination..poor coordination with connecting flights with partner airlines (Saudi airways). Also the food was very mediocre.

Not a good one this time. The absence of internet without any information/notification ahead was really the unacceptable part. Also this new A350-900 has a serious legroom challenge for economy seats. It’s more like a medium-haul flight legroom configuration.

Not great , just ok . I expected better food but it did not deliver . Flight staff was ok . The guy at the drop off bag counter was the only saving grace in this whole trip . He was pleasant, friendly and very helpful . You couldn’t ask for a better assistance from him .

There was 2 hours delay before boarding and 2 hours delay after boarding while waiting in the plane

Very good crew. Food service above average. Seats very small for a 12 hours flight.

Boarding was a disaster being moved by Air France by bus to the plane. The plane should have been at the right gate.

They lost my lauggage and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT. NO ONE IS HELPING! PLEASE HELP FIND MY LOST LAUGGAGE

Extremely poor. First - and oddly enough, Air France denied access to the Business Class lounge at CDG to all of us - although we were all flying Business Class. It is amazing that an airline denies lounge access to its passengers flying on business and paying several thousand dollars each ticket. Second, the food on Business Class on absolutely horrible. Air France must have made an effort to prepare bad tasting dishes (not even the ice cream was good). Third, the cabin temperature was too hot and although we complained many times, it never got cooler.

A disaster. Air France is a real joke. They overcharge us customers for absolutely nothing. Service was very poor, food was mediocre, entertainment non existent, etc. We paid thousands of dollars for our business class tickets and then we were told in Paris we could not access its lounge. Really Air France ? Congratulations on irritating your customers to the sky high level and ensuring we will do everything in our power to discourage others to travel with you.

They again did not offer any functioning WiFi in the transatlantic crossing.

There was no USB plug in my section of the plane. So I could not charge my phone. Also, there was no screen to watch movie or anything like that. Wish I had known that in advance, I would’ve brought my iPad.

Made all groups except 2 check despite ample bin space. Inflight WiFi and entertainment didn’t work most of the time.

Seats are smaller and harder than other airlines we have travels with. Food was edible but no good. The sandwich was the only thing I would eat again. They did have a lot of movies to watch.

Not enough room between rows and food was gross. $160 baggage charge?! Never again.

Booked a united Air flight with option to pick seat , then found out was on an Air Canada flight with assigned seat , then they wanted a several dollar charge for some 25 cent value entertainment listening ear device

It was fine. The flight attendant appeared to be in a bad mood but everything was fine.

Waited for our plane from HNL so we didn't miss connection. AMAZING Service for that, then really clean plane. Nice airline attendants.

Seats are outdated. Entertainment relies on personal device. Boarding was delayed due to inaccurate passenger tracking, resulted in late arrival at Reno.

Excellent staff helping my 96 year old senior promptly with her oxygen needs

The crew and flight was amazing. I haven't flown United in years but plan to switch to you being my main airline

It was as expected for such a short flight. No complaints

Crazy seating issues. We got seated far apart. Offered middle seats at a premium rate. Why is a middle seat now the expensive seat? Baffling.

The boarding process was a nightmare and though we were traveling business class, we were in Group 2 and the organization was terrible. The Business Class on this flight was crowded and did not feel clean and nice. Overall, I would not travel Business again on the American Airline flight through British Airways Not nearly special enough for the considerable cost .

Seats were very uncomfortable. I paid extra for a seat with more leg room, the seat was no different than a seat at the back of the plane. Flight attendant was rude.

I did not enjoy continuously being lied to about the amount of time we would circle Chicago before deciding to redirect to Milwaukee. Then the amount of time we would sit on the ground in Milwaukee waiting for gas, or to take off again. Or the amount of time it would then take to get to Chicago again, or sit on the runway waiting for a gate. The whole time continuously hopefully we would make our connecting flight that kept getting delayed as well. Only to scramble and miss it. Enough with the BS. Tell me the truth. "Sorry, things are backed up and your probably not going to make your flight. You should rebook on the next flight now rather than wait." You'll never hear those words from an airline. Speaking of which. If the flight has been redirected and/or is seriously delayed, how about making the WiFi free for everyone so they get to rebooking and reserving hotel rooms while still in the air. You've inconvenienced me already and now you want me to pay $20 for Internet so I can try to make other plans. Absolutely disgusting!

not enough crew for business class and not great service as a result. underwhelmed overall

WiFi was down so no entertainment and I could not work either. The flight was Very turbulent at the end (the last 20 min felt like an eternity) I appreciated the pilot for getting us there safely. The flight attending in first class was kind and attentive to everyone.

The A321(?) model of the flight for 5+hrs has no seat back screens. Getting the american airlines wifi experience to watch movies on your own devices is not the same.

Not sure why JAL partnered with American Airlines because their service is no where near similar. Flight attendants were not friendly and didn’t smile. Food was horrible…

The experience was great and much better than the flight going out. of course I was in first class but the service was excellent
