FAQs for booking Bangkok to Kathmandu flights

  • Will I need a visa to go to Kathmandu (KTM)?

Yes, a visa is mandatory for US citizens to be allowed into the country. You can either get your visa by applying via the Nepalese Consulate or Embassy beforehand and getting approval before embarking on your journey or purchase a tourist visa upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Delayed flight in Singapore caused the transfer at Bangkok to be very stressful. Fortunately, no elderly were in this trip, else it will not be possible to catch the connecting flight. There were also several occasions throughout the flight journey where some of the passengers were not wearing their seat belts despite several remainders from the stewardess.

USB charging port was not working at my seat 48K.

I enjoy flying with Thai Airways, however their B788 business class configuration is quite dated. Additionally , while the service is always friendly and efficient, I’m getting tired of the same “usual suspects” when it comes to food choices. Since it was a lunchtime flight, what about some gourmet sandwiches or some type of salad dish for the main course? The entertainment options are also quite limited and this is not unique to TG, so much so that given the short duration of the flight I ended up not bothering with any entertainment. Finally, despite signs around the cabin advising wifi available, I was unable to con-net and in fact I’ve never been able to connect on any TG flight over the last year or so - what’s the go here??

Always liked Thai Airways but in the past they have been very expensive, not being a millionaire just yet, I will use cheaper airlines. Bangkok to London £370 11 hours 45 mins. Old plane but ok. Lovely ladies on board, very polite. Food was ok. Will always use them if the price is right.

Could have been better. I prefer Thai airlines only but it hasnt been reliable.

Service on board was excellent. Flight attendant was very helpful. I wish the website is more functional. I can't even choose seats online and had to call the customer service. During check-in at the counter in CGK, I saw a printed page about paying for the bulkhead and exit row seats, so I asked the staff at the check-in counter. I was told that the flight is full and there isn't any seats available for paid upgrade. When I boarded the plane, I saw so many bulkhead and exit row seats empty and asked the flight attendant. He allowed me to purchase the upgrades on board. It would have been nice if I could purchase the upgrades ahead of time, eg. During online check-in or bag drop at the airport. The economy seats in the A350-900 are arranged in 3-3-3 configuration. Seat width is a bit tight for me.

Overall things were very good and orderly. The food was very good but I want able to get a second drink very easily, so that could have been better for services. The seats seemed to be lacking legroom but I'm also 6'1" so I'm used to wanting more legroom but the plane seemed smaller then others when it came to legroom. My kids all enjoyed the entertainment as did I so that was perfect!

The flight attendants ignored us several times which was annoying. The sandwich thing wasn't very good but it's only an hour flight, it would have been better to have entertainment over bad food.

It was good overall. At 6 foot 1 it's hard to say anything seat on a flight is comfortable but it would be nice to have more legroom. The meals were good but would have liked to get wine much sooner.

Ontime, no frills, the cabin is clean, the ticket price is lower than the full-service airlines.

Paid for a meal we didn't receive. They admitted they had forgetten ours. No compensation or rectification offered. We requested if they would just give us a glass of wine instead and we would call it even. Crew advised they could not do this and to go to Air Asia counter on arrival and request a refund. Our flight didn't arrive until 2am so this was not a viable option. The crews solution was if we wanted a wine we should purchase one. I was unhappy with that suggestion considering they had already ripped us off with our meal.

Took 4 flights in 5 days 3 out of 4 left late about one hour each.

The boarding process was very poor - refueling on so rear ladder blocked. I think while boarding both ladders should be accessible so that passengers are comfortable instead of crowding through front ladder

No WiFi or movies. And the seat We’re uncomfortable. Good thing it was a short flight

It was on time! First time in a long time for Air Asia. Thank you!

Nightmare at check in because of restrictibe and unmanageable baggage rules. Very long line and slow because of these policies. Not a smart way to make $

Very few crew meant that we had to wait almost 2 hours just the get a drink!

I get so tired of the constant delays, but there are so few options. The plane is coming from Bangkok each time. Why are the flights so regularly delayed. I do appreciate the speed of the baggage delivery into the terminal.

We had a 3 hrs delay and they offer McDonalds pineapple pay. They charged us for extra grs of luggage and the experience was not good

I specifically searched for flight with checkin bags. Airfare assist website still sold tickets without check in bags and I had to pay 3 times more for my bad. Worst experience ever with untrained staff and haphazard boarding

As a frequent flyer, I was impressed with the smooth take off.

No frills means no frills... I just got on the plane and flew. That's all. Nothing more and nothing less. Or I did buy some water, they took cash only! LOL

First the flight delayed 1 hour ND then when we suppose to landing the pilot decided not to land at the chiang Mai Airport but the chiang rai airport

Pros: "This is a budget airline and they get you to where you going at good price"
Cons: "They pack you in all together even though there are open seats available and leave you there as if you've done something wrong"
Cons: "fraud on the baggge fee. Had already tried to pay on web sire, but tmdid not work. Then they charge more than twice the price at airport."
Pros: "I am grateful for small mercies. ... it was on time!"
Cons: "Not being fleeced / ripped off cheated out of money as I check in. The website purposely does not allow payment of bags just so they can get more at airport. ... Staff admitted it was regular complaints and they did not care... Not my sort of pleasurable flight.."
Pros: "The ground staff service was really poor, the air-cond on-board was warm instead of cold, when arrived Singapore, the body sweaty."
Cons: "The pre-book luggage service and check-in ground staff service in Bangkok airport. It's really disappointed."
Cons: "They had mosquitos entire flight, they could have sprayed bug spray or do something about it"
Pros: "Just expect , what is expected from a low cost carrier."

What started as a small delay at checkin ended up being a two and a half hour delay by the time the plane took off. The annoying part was that we weren’t told what the holdup was.

Offer a pillow in business class for night flight. More comfortable seats. Offer alcoholic beverages. Get flight attendants that care.

It was not possible to do an online checkin with Nepal Airlines. Apart from that, all the rest was very good : good food, friendly staff that ensure that Covid rules are respected (not always easy),…

Cons: "Food wasn't nice, flight left late and they misplaced our luggage so we had to wait an extra hour on arrival."
