Pros. The room was clean and was located on the same floor as the hotel front desk. It was also near the breakfast room. Our room has a pretty decent view of the city and Spadina Avenue more specifically. Being that we were there for a concert at the Horseshoe Tavern, the location was ideal. If you’re going to Toronto to shop down Queen Street, this place is good for that as well.
Cons. Being that this place gives off an air of a budget hotel it was no surprise that the parking garage smelled of urine and there was someone sleeping under a stairwell near the elevator. The hotel is in a building that also houses cheap shopping. Crappy stores selling junk from China. The smells that are derived from the Shoppes isn’t pleasant. On the day we left, the elevator wouldn’t fetch us on the third floor of the building. The front desk dude told us, for one of us to go down to the second floor and make the elevator go to the third-floor that way. Nice.
Pros. location
Cons. room was cold and heater didn't bring it up to temperature, shower leaked, hair drier shorted out, continental breakfast was poor
Pros. This is my go-to hotel for business trips to Toronto. It's affordable but offers clean, comfy rooms and a good breakfast in the morning.
Cons. There are persistent wifi problems in the rooms along the back and on the opposite side of the shopping area. It works, but it's very slow and intermittent.
Pros. Conveniently located. Parking available for $10/ day
Pros. The rooms were clean and the facility as described
Cons. Minor issue with the A/C unit. Easily addressed by staff.
Pros. Rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable.cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons. The "breakfast" was very limited. We were there about 8 o'clock. There was no fruit, no bread for toast.. But that didn't matter as we couldn't see a toaster. There were muffins and bagels. Not impressed with the breakfast. It was very difficult to find how to get in the hotel when you were driving. We did two passes before we saw a small sign indicating the super 8 parking. There were no directions on the hotel web site or on the front on the building. Couldn't stop on the road out front to go in and find out as it is a major no parking road.
Pros. It was close to the Air Canada Centre, which is my only reason for being there. McDonald's is just down the street.
Cons. Having to pay $20 a day for parking! I understand it's usually $10 a day, but because I was going out and coming back for the concerts, I had to pay double! Should have been included in the room charge!
Pros. Convenient to good eating in Chinatown, reasonable cost, and with the excellent public transport - it was fairly easy to get to the convention center.
Cons. Lighting in the room could be improved, and the alarm didn't work
Pros. Location and price.
Cons. Fire alarm went off at 5am (Sunday morning). Seems this isn't that out of the ordinary after reading others reviews.
Pros. Stayed there this weekend to see the Nutcracker and spend a day at the AGO and ROM. The hotel is in a great spot without killing your bank account. Spadina Ave has character and is fun to explore on your down time. The hotel is clean (although the building may look sketchy haha) and the staff are very nice.
Cons. Fire alarm went off at 5AM - that sucked but obviously a rare thing. The water pressure in the shower could have been better but I am just being nit picky.
