They didn’t even have a car for me. I had to go to a different location and they tried to charge me with thousand dollars more. I love getting it talk down to a lower price but it was still over $100 more than the price I’m supposed to pay.

We were given a car that had a bad wheelbearing and they refused to replace the car. They didn't honor the second driver added and gave her a bad time even though she had all the paperwork on her. It took several calls and days for us to get a new car. This made the trip longer, ran into weather and had to pay them more money to extend the rental. It is a huge safety issue and most of the people we spoke to at Hertz was very lackadaisical. Would any of them let a loved one drive a car like that? The sound it made couldn't even be drowned out with the radio. There were a couple employees that I got that went above what they could. Roadside couldn't even get a car replaced for us because management wouldn't approve it. It was just absurd. I will never use Hertz or one of their other companies again knowing that they do not care about their clients safety. Ordering through Kayak was easy and great.

I arrived at hertz and they told me they had no cars available. I told them I had a reservation. They said sorry they have nothing. I told them I had a reservation they didn’t care. I had used an Uber to get to this location. So I didn’t have a ride to another location to rent a car. I asked them if they could arrange for a car at another one of their locations. I was told to inquire on my own their was nothing they could do to help. I asked them if they could get me a ride to another location they told me no. Customer Service at its best! I ended up paying for another Uber to the airport in Sacramento. Which cost me another $44. I made sure not to rent from hertz. Nobody said sorry or tried to make anything right ????? I guess this is how hertz does business.

Staff wasn’t very friendly, complained that we weren’t sharp on time and she said she hoped she still had a car left for us although we had already paid. Proceeded to act surprise that there was a car left and didn’t even say which model or if same size that we had paid for. No information regarding vehicle and then said they would need to clean it now. Was a very quick clean. Probably not up to current standards. Also if cars are just standing around, wouldn’t they have had time to clean them?

efficient return at LAX however when I returned to my hotel I noticed that I was charged $105 more than my original agreement. When I called Budget (Customer Service is not available 24/7) I was told the difference was because I returned the car one hour early!!! But, they would go ahead and "honor" the original agreement. I have never had this problem with National or Heryz

Pros:

The pick up was quick from Roseville Sacramento. We were most impressed with the drop off in San Francisco. We were catching a flight and the traffic made me a bit nervous thinking we were going to be late. But the quick drop off put my mind at ease. Thank you for being so organize.

Cons:

They didn't show me how to operate the vehicle [a VW Bug]. I couldn't figure out how to start it. When I tried loading my belongings to leave for airport I couldn't open the trunk, couldn't move the seats forward [to place bags in rear]. In the end I had to drive with my luggage on top of me in the two front seats. Crazee.

Reserved a luxury SUV (Audi Q5 or equivalent was stated). When I arrived I was given the choice of only two SUV’s, both Ford Expedition Max. The vehicle is the biggest SUV Ford makes…6000lbs, 7 passenger and 20’ long. Not a luxury SUV and a gas guzzler averaging 13 mpg. You need a step ladder to climb into the vehicle. Was not a pleasant experience trying to drive and park that thing around Charleston SC.

I didn't like national due the over charge was out rageous, getting charged 80 cents kilometers when it'd suppose to be 33 cents kilometers. They were charging 3000 kilometers when it's 23650 n charging 2000 in kilometers charges when he said I was out of province, they gave me a Alberta license plate car n now they want to charge me, the attitude from the man was very rude,problems with car and said couldnt do anything, I need to be treated like criminal, when it's criminal the way they try and scam you. I will never rent from another rental car company again especially your company, I don't give you any stars and a poor review. Worst company.. the way he ordered me to pay and the way he talked to me in public, he said I don't need to talk to him like that when he kept refusing to give the mangers number and argued with me n when people were staring he said I don't need to be treated this and talked in his language and got angry gave me the number after 20 min, I walked 2 hours home passed off with the treatment and then the guy took the car out and literally stepped on the pedal went more then speed limit on the airport road, he was mad with ne cause I refuse to pay 3000 dollars for double the amount to what was told.. never rent a car in fort st john they will rob you blind...

Absolutely awful. I pre-paid for this car rental and when I arrived to the Payless counter, I was told that no cars were available! Calling Payless customer service was useless. They said that the best they could do is to process a refund... how was that going to help? I was stuck at Indianapolis Airport with no means of getting to my final destination. I will never rent with Payless again.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
