Pros. The facility is located in a great spot, decently clean, and the staff were always helpful whenever I asked them any questions.
Cons. It's hard to tell if they want to be a bar or a hostel, and they seem to focus on the former more. The WiFi is spotty at best, especially on nights when the bar downstairs is full. The staff wasn't always present at the front counter, the kitchen was small, and there was a surprising lack of common areas. It felt as though the accommodations were an afterthought, contrasting with how nice the bar downstairs was. Very spartan. Don't stay in a 6/8 person room or you run the risk of being stuck with an entire family on vacation from Europe who doesn't understand that this is a youth hostel. It should be adult only, as most hostels are. There are also no elevators so if you're on the third/fourth floor get ready to walk up and down stairs a lot, and forget it if you have a disability.
Pros. Located in the heart of Reykjavik & easy to find
Cons. Extremely dirty; questionable as to if sheets had been changed before new guests checked in. Beds were shaky and connected to one another so you could feel every time anyone moved. Kitchen is so small and poorly laid out that only one person can cook at the stove at a time and while they're cooking it's difficult to open the fridge. Water smells very sulfuric. Front "desk" is located at the trendy bar on the ground level which contrasts sharply with the rest of the facilities. Staff who work the front desk vary from extremely helpful and friendly to dismissive, arrogant, and downright rude. Though it's relatively inexpensive it is NOT WORTH the money. I'd go to Bus Hostel, Kex, or Loft Hostel in a heartbeat. Never staying here again.
