Cons. Hotel de Flore was closed on the dates we booked. Luckily some friends were booked in the same hotel and were told by their agent (unlike ours) who organised alternative accommodation. After a week of painful conversations with Getaroom (would have been useful to know they're based abroad) they acknowledged the hotel was closed and in fairness organised alternative accommodation in a nice hotel nearby at no extra charge. Would have been nice to have been told about closure rather than having to chase.
Pros. Proximity to the boardwalk and fun of the active night life.
Cons. Cheap rooms, uncomfortable mattresses, subpar soundproofing so we could hear every conversation in other rooms and in the hallway, very mediocre breakfast, I mean it was very poor -- even easy to please kids didn't want it. The "happy" hour was lemon juice for kids or water. Lemon juice is not lemonade and terrible olives and terrible wine. Not up to snuff for the price paid. More like a 1 or 2 star hotel to me.
Pros. The best part of this hotel is Mwa the front desk manager. She was wonderful to work with.
Cons. I thought the rooms could use some minor upgrades: better bedspreads, pillows and sheets. Bathrooms need better soap, shampoo, etc. Cutting those corners costs a lot in experience.
Pros. Character and charm of the accommodation and the friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was ever a problem for them.
Cons. Loved everything!
