Pros. Breakfast buffet excellent; room was spacious
Cons. Ramp instead of steps inside hotel to assist with moving luggage
Pros. Great location
Cons. Front desk staff member did not greet nor ask if I had ever been there. Did not tell us anything about the facility or amenities the hotel offered. Seemed aggravated that I had booked with an outside agency. Room was not cleaned one day & had to chase someone down to get it cleaned. Rooms need a little facelift.
Pros. Good food, nice pool, comfortable beds
Cons. Inside the hotel was very cold
Pros. LOVED the pool!!! great extended hours, heated, and lap lane.
Cons. breakfast should be included, even if it's a small selection
Pros. The Bonaventure is a rather unusual hotel, built in a very late 20th century modern style on the top 2 floors of an office/convention center building. Its rooms are laid out in a ring, surrounding a center lobby area with a bar and restaurant, year-round outdoor heated pool and hot tub, and a pond with ducks. Rooms are sleek and modern in a 1960-70s way, but comfortable and updated with firm beds and very nicely sized bathrooms. The rooms are very quiet, The ring layout means that there is minimal hallway noise and the hotel is high enough and with thick enough windows that there is almost no street noise (and many rooms face inner courtyards instead of the street). Staff and service are friendly and efficient, without being intrusive. Bonaventure isn't super-deluxe, but it is a welcoming, calming, and unique experience.
Cons. The only things I can think of is that the walk to the rooms can be a little long, due to the unusual layout and the fact that there are only 2 elevators between the street level and the lobby on the 10th floor. And guests should be aware that there will be short stairways between the lobby area and the hallways for the rooms. The drain in our tub was quite slow, but we let management know and they said the situation would be fixed before the next guest came. There is not a lot going on in the immediate area around the hotel, particularly at night (but there is a large train station across the street with multiple food options, including late fast food and a 24 hour Tim Horton's, and hotel is connected through convention center to underground passages and Metro station).
Pros. across the street from the train station central location; within walking distance to restaurants and sights link to underground passageways friendly and helpful staff small hotel [2 floors of building?] newly renovated lobby, restaurant and bar easy self-parking or valet
Cons. room upholstery is a bit dingy
Pros. Great staff! Front desk, concierge, door, all very kind and helpful. The duck pond on the property is adorable and a great place to relax and read a book.
Pros. Hotel has a good location. Close to old port area - 15 min walk, and some nightlife. Good pool. Nice lobby. Room was comfortable and clean.
Cons. Staff was not very friendly upon check in although the housekeeping service was very responsive and the concierge was enthusiastic.
Cons. Service was not good
Pros. Our room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Although we had heard some concerns about night time noise, the hotel was quiet during our stay. The pool was lovely as ever, and a hot tub has been added since our last stay. The water temperature was just right in both pool and hot tub. Lockers for your clothes are free. The exercise room is nice. The duck pond was fun to watch.
Cons. A hotel the size of the Bonaventure could really use three hot tubs, especially since (unlike many hotels) the pool is so popular. We thought the hotel restaurants were a little expensive, although there are some reasonable dining options in the levels below Place Bonaventure. The carpeting in the hallways looks very worn, but on closer inspection, it's the pattern.
