Pros. You get a warm and friendly welcome here, but that's just the start. In addition to a comfortable and spacious room with free wifi and parking. The hotel provides a room well-stocked with DVDs that can be borrowed at no charge. Also, there are snacks sold on the honor system. In the morning, the room is used for the continental breakfast, which offers good quality food and variety.
Cons. With only three tables in the breakfast room, plan on bringing your food back to your room. Of course, if your timing is good, you can enjoy it right there. The hotel is easy to locate and very convenient to I-17 but it is not particularly close to points of interest, particularly Sedona and adjacent state parks. Still, if you're looking for a nice place at a much better rate than you could find in Sedona--and don't mind a 25-minute drive--this may be the place for you.
Pros. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They thought of all the little things that you might need during your stay (and then some). They have a room full of movies and snacks available to all guests to take back to their room with an honor system payment process. If we ever come back to the area, we would love to stay here again. You'd probably pay 2-3 times the price for the same service in Sedona.
Cons. We were hiking in Sedona and it was a little bit out of the way for us, but totally worth the 20 minute drive.
Pros. Nothing. Owner refused to allow me to stay despite the fact that I paid for the room in advance, and it was 11pm and I was six months pregnant and had been on the road al day coming from Florida.
Cons. We searched for pet friendly hotels as my boyfriend and I were making the move from Florida to California. The owner lists her hotel as pet friendly so that it gets more site traffic but it is infact not pet friendly. You can only bring a dog that is 20lbs or less. So that means no cats and if your dog is 30lbs she (the owner) will not allow you to stay at her hotel despite the fact the the weight limit info is listed in fine print and no where near where hotel amenities are listed or where hotel bookings are made. Additionally the owner who refused to allow her employee to disclose her name and or contact info but who's ultimate decision it was to either allow me to stay or allow my funds to be released so that I could financially secure another room for the night, also refused to speak to me over the phone. So there I was in the middle of the night exhausted, pregnant, hauling a moving truck and trailer with no where to stay and not even so much as a kind word for the misunderstanding. The front desk guy said it happens all the time and the owner is a real stickler about it, meaning she often has this issue and still makes no effort to correct it with either the guest or the travel sites she's lists her hotel on (Kayak, Expedia) apparently she quite often takes people's money for the full hotel stay but does not allow the guest to stay siting the pet policy as the reason. So the owner refused to get on the phone with me however she felt it necessary to call Expedia to confirm she would not be releasing my funds and she stayed on the phone with the front desk guy who was the only hotel employee on site and used him to relay to me what she wanted said but she herself would not speak to me. She told employee to relay the "tough luck" message to me. In addition to the extremely unpleasant reception I received, the location of this hotel couldn't be more inconvenient. It is in a very residential area, there are zero amenities, there are no restaurants, gas stations, convenient stores or stores of any kind within miles of the hotel. The roads to get to the hotel (at night) are very dark, narrow and treacherous. The area doesn't feel safe as it is off some obscure freeway exit in what seems like the middle of no where. I hope no one else encounters the same problems my boyfriend and I did. And honestly just how mean and inhuman she handled the whole situation left me in tears. This woman and her hotel were the only negative part of own entire cross country trip.
Pros. The price was excellent and close to Sedona.
Cons. A little hard to find in the dark, but really not that difficult if you stay on the main road till you see their sign.
Pros. This motel is on the corner of a residential block in a quiet part of town, across the corner from a tiny strip mall with a great restaurant (Crickets). The speed limit is 25 mph, so what traffic there is isn't loud. The town the motel is in is friendly and inviting, and the staff of the motel reflect this. We were made to feel like part of the community from the moment we got out of our car. Our room was clean and well maintained.
Cons. The curly-cue light bulbs give off dim light--if you read paper books or knit, you may wish to bring a small portable light source with you.
