The van was filthy when I picked it up. Like crushed chips, dirt & boogers filthy. I had to whipe it down with clorox just to feel okay with my upcoming 4 hr ride. I would've returned it but they were already closed & I think it also needed gas too when I picked it up. The price was excellent & not beatable by their rivals within city limits.
Cons:We were not able to pick up our rental at Hertz. It was nightmare to deal with the staff and they were not able to get us a car at all. We would not book through kayak again.
Pros:It was a comfortable ride.
Cons:A LOT!!! I arrived at the Hertz location, located at 911 West Anderson Lane, Suite 125 Austin, TX US 78757, to pick up my reservation Monday, 11/30/2020. Upon arrival, I was informed that they did not have my requested size vehicle in stock and took a larger vehicle in its place. I agreed to go with a bigger vehicle, but I did not expect it to look like it had been in a fight with a bear! The Hertz agent informed me that it was the last SUV available and that he would be right back after "cleaning it up." I waited over an hour for a reservation booked the day before so that it can be cleaned??? Why was it not ready when I arrived? When the agent did finally pull up with the vehicle; it was not clean, the windows were smeared, the inside had clearly not been sanitized to prevent COVID-19, there are scratches all over it, a chip in the windshield, and the passenger side step rail looks like a bear took a bite out of it! When I asked to have it washed AGAIN, the agent stated that it would be another 30 minutes or more if I wanted that because he would have to drive down the road to another location to do that?!?!!? The agent then did a quick walk around and rushed back inside, and ignored my questions about the damage. I took the vehicle to a car wash and washed and disinfected it and took photos of the damage before my fiancé, which is a high risk for COVID-19, could even get into the car. Now I have rented many cars throughout my life, but I have never received one in such poor condition from a reputable company, ever!! I am VERY disappointed.
Car wasn't clean when we received it. Tire pressure was low after one day of use. Multiple electronics and displays on the 2 year old car malfunctioned over the course of 12 days.
Pros:Nothing, never picked up the vehicle.
Cons:I booked a truck and my flight came in at 9:40. They said online they are open till 11pm... but no the entire area was deserted. Just horrible. You literally have one job
The Austin staff was friendly and helpful and the car was clean and in good shape. While the price was similar to other rental companies, renting cars has gotten to be very expensive!
Pros:I was told hours before my trip that the large SUV that I had rented was not available. I was given a mini van and that was my only option. I even called their customer service and the woman on the phone spoke to me like I was trying to get something for free. IF I WANTED TO DRIVE AROUND IN A MINI VAN, I WOULD HAVE RENTED A MINI VAN. The Hertz front desk seemed rude and uninvolved in the customerexperience. This ruined my trip before it even started. I will never rent from Hertz again.
Cons:Everything! From fulfilling the correct rental car contract to the customer service I was provided.
