Driving in Ecuador is pleasant, thanks to its well-maintained roads. The following rules apply: you must always drive on the right-hand side of the road and wear your seatbelt. When you rent a car in Ecuador, you will always need to carry a valid driver’s license, registration, and insurance documents. You will find that the Pan-American Highway, which extends through 14 countries including Ecuador, is a toll road. Typical toll fees are as little as $1.
