Since you will rarely encounter anything besides sunny weather, and will likely find yourself in traffic if hoping to access Los Angeles, the recommended car rentals in Glendale are economy or compact cars. Not only will this save you money on gas with better mileage than a large vehicle, but it will also give you parking flexibility and maneuverability for busy streets in Glendale or downtown Los Angeles.
The freeways surrounding Glendale typically have speed limits of 65mph, though you will rarely find yourself reaching this speed if you travel during rush hour. If traffic is moving freely, you will often find that the flow of traffic travels about 5mph faster than the posted limit. Within Glendale, residential areas have a maximum speed limit of 25mph, with many posting lower limits in quieter neighborhoods. City streets range from 25mph to 35mph, with major roads like Brand Boulevard posting limits of 40mph. Though you might be able to get away with going 5mph over the limit on freeways, stay at or slightly below the posted limits within Glendale, as the police keep a sharp lookout for commuters speeding through a shortcut around rush hour traffic.
There are three parking structures owned by the City of Glendale within the downtown area, each offering the first 90min of parking for free. These structures are the Exchange on Artsakh Avenue with about 700 spots, the Marketplace Structure one block away with nearly 1,100 spots, and the Orange Street structure with over 600 spots. The hourly rate after your first 90min is about $2 per hour at all three structures.

Pros:
I arrived a few minutes before the time for which I had made my reservation. I waited outside because of Covid regulations, but an employee definitely saw me waiting. A few minutes later, at noon, the staff walked out, locked the door, told me they were closed and that I was too late. They were dismissive and very rude. They seemed to find my situation funny. I ended up walking to another car rental company. After two or three phone calls over a couple of days, and quite some time on hold, I was able to get my money refunded by Hertz. The customer service people I spoke to on the phone were generally helpful and polite.Cons:
The reservation app shouldn’t allow people to make reservations close to closing time. I didn’t know, but the app should have told me to arrive earlier when I made the reservation. Employees on site should be trained to be helpful and polite. I will not use that Hertz office again, and I will not recommend it.2.0 Poor
