I was a bit surprised by the additional $500 deposit at the pickup location. The deposit was almost 250% more than the cost of the rental car itself - which only totaled $201. It would have been a little more comforting to know that this extra amount was required prior to arriving at the location. Knowing at booking allows for precise budgeting for the trip.10.0 Wonderful

I didn’t like anything.., When I got there, they told me that they didn’t recognize the insurance that I paid before I got there. Then, they increased the car prices and wanted to get the insurance from them for a lot of money, then another $500 down in case something happened... My question was how they can make people pay all that money for a liability insurance2.0 Poor

Nothing, the customer service sucked! My reservations were canceled due to time difference that I was not made aware of when booking plus they did not problem solve were very dismissive and said they had No cars at all.Cons:
Customer service could have advised about the time difference plus the hold of vehicles. I should have been guided to other rental companies that would have given me a better deal. I had to figure it all out by myself. They guys there suck big time.2.0 Poor

We have paid but didn’t get a car! They rented out from under us. We were a day late due to a reschedule implemented by American Airlines. When we called to tell them when we would be picking it up, the lady hung up on us twice, we couldn’t get thru several times and finally we got a hold of someone who told us they rented it and had no more cars available. Pros:
The car was nice and comfortable.Cons:
Upon our arrival we had to wait about an hour to be seen. The only person working was handling two transactions, a return and a rental. The car was given dirty on the outside so the scratches were hard to see. We didn’t realize the windshield had a crack in it until a few days later. Luckily I took a video of the car so we didn’t end up being liable for the damage. When we took the car back they said not to worry about it because I had the video. Once there, they told us the temp tags were expired, mind you we picked up the car on 5/2 and it expired 5/3. Why would they give a car with temp tags about to expire the following day? Our car rental was for 20 days. They said they kept trying to call us, I asked to what number and they said your US number, why would they call our US number when we’re in a different county. There was no excuse because they had all of our local information. They said someone would be by the following day to take the new temp plates. We waiting all day, no one showed up and no one even bothered to call. We tried calling them all day even to their emergency number and no one responded. How reassuring is that if we did have some sort of vehicle emergency and we couldn’t reach someone on their emergency number. Not until 2 days later after we kept calling that someone actually picked up and said someone would be by within the hour. We asked for a credit for the inconvenience and all they said was that the card had already been charged and that they couldn’t issue a credit. I work for a University and I handle payments, partial refunds can be issued if they wanted to. It was the most annoying experience ever. Wasted time and days waiting around so that we wouldn’t be stopped by the cops for expired temp plates. When we went to return the car the day we were leaving at 7:00am apparently they didn’t open until 8:00am. How do you have a car rental company where you don’t have someone on site 24 hours a day? After waiting a while a person finally showed up. Then he weren’t the one to process the lift of the $3,000 hold it was another person who wouldn’t be there until about an hour later. Considering our flight was at 10:00am we couldn’t wait around.2.0 Poor

Sixt are not very competent people. They say there is a "mandatory" insurance in the country. Funny how the other 20 rental car companies didn't do that. It also took them like an hour to figure out our rental. I saw like 3 other people go to the place next to us and out the door before us. The only positive thing was that they waited for me when I arrived. It was a headache with all the “fine print” and extra money that I had to put down to get the vehicle...Cons:
On my way to the airport I was in a small fender bender & when I got to the airport I webt to check in, the receiver said he would be there waiting for me to sign. When I got back he was gone. The young lady that came to help me called the sup or mgr but she was no help either as they made me miss my flight, didnt accomadate me with anything, then said I could get another car for the day but I have to pay for it. Then I just noticed that the SUPER overcharged me for the fender bender. Something that here in the states would be a couple hundred, they took almost the entire deposit of the $1100 I put down for the car... the worst experience ever...2.0 Poor

I didn’t like anything. We were told when we got to Santo Domingo that they didn’t have a van for us. They had the reservation but no van available to us. We asked when would they have one available they said nothing for the next week. So we ended up paying double the price for the rental. My question is is this a hustle from Kayak and enterprise or just kayak?Cons:

I had issues in the past at DR about the rental Carrara reservations. This time with Enterprise at SDQ airport was very easy and efficient. Pick-up and drop off was very easy. They did not play games like some other companies. Staff were friendly and quick. Thanks for the good service...Cons:

Nothing. I didn't get a car. I noticed this was a trend in the Santo Domingo rental car pickup. Kayak needs to do a better job of warning people that Santo Domingo's rental car companies are difficult to work with. I rented from 3 different places and none of them had cars.Cons:

I reserved a mid-size sedan but they gave ma sub-compact. ThenEurocar forced me to buy their CDW insurance, an expense that was not clearly stated when I made my online reservation and doubled the stated price, and then they told me I had damaged the car and wanted more money, but finally agreed to no extra charges7.6 Good

The person in charge attitude was awful, he didn't listen or responded to anything I said or asked him, he also wanted to charge for an insurance I declined the whole time. when I did the reservation over Kayak, the rental cost was gonna be under 300 dollars and the man wanted to charge me almost 1000 dollars because an insurance I was needing to have in order to rent the vehicle. he also told I was not forced to rent the vehicle with them.2.0 Poor

Had to pay for DR insurance as opposed to the insurance I already paid for. If I used the 3rd party, they were going to put a hold of $1500 on my card. The rental web site offers insurance. The rental agency does not accept the insurance you purchase on the rental web site, and requires you to purchase another, much more expensive, policy before renting the vehicle: no locally purchased policy, no rental! The rental agency suggested calling (international) the insurance company which provides the insurance offered on the rental web site to cancel the policy - not very practical. A rip off coming and going. Dollar and Kayak should be more transparent in what is offered through their services.2.0 Poor

They didn't have my car upon arrival. They instead gave us a car that seated 3 people less because we were picking up the rest of the family the next day. They didn't give any kind of upgrade or refund for the lesser car they gave us for that day. The charges us 14 dollars a day for a gps when the car the next day had a gps installed in it. When I tried to turn it in at punta cana they said to turn it in at the end in Santo Domingo and then in Santo Domingo they said we should have turned it in at the dollar in punta cana. They sold us additional insurance saying that they could not rent us a car without it even though I already had a policy in hand which had better protection than that which they sold me. When I got there to pick up the car I was told that I to pay a different price no with exceptions. So I reserved the car from home for a set price because it was what I could afford only to end up having to pay twice as much once I picked up the car. Also when I went to pick up the vehicle I had to wait forever because the attendant was nowhere to be found. The receptionist who attended me with the paperwork had to get out and get the car herself after I kept coming back to tell her that I was still waiting. The gentleman who was assigned to get the car was practically only a few feet from me sitting on a chair sleeping and pretending he didn't work there.. Horrible service. Just horrible. As for the car it was scratched all over with many dents all around including the at the hood as if someone beat it with a baseball bat. Also had horrible paint job on the back. You can see the yellow stains protruding from the original white paint and the windshield was cracked. But at least the car did its job to take me from point A to point B without any problems..2.0 Poor

The car was in good running condition. They just got a new fleet of 2016 cars so I was fortunate to grab one of the newer cars.Cons:
The rental agent insisted on me getting collision and 3rd party insurance after I told him that I did not needed the additional coverage due to my credit card protection and additional insurance I bought through Kayak. After about an hour discussion, he then tells me that it is a new law that just went into effect last month and that I had no choice but to buy the insurance from them. When that didn't work, he then tried the scare tactics to try to convince me to buy the insurance that was twice as much as the actual rental cost. Then came the class of car that I was paying for. I reserved a full size car, but I ended up with a compact car instead. When I complained about the size of the car, I was told that I had to pay more because the larger cars were considered premium class. Nowhere else would someone consider a Hyundai Accent to be a premium car. After another 45mins argument, he agreed to give me an Accent instead of the sub compact car he originally was trying to give me for the price of the larger car. After spending 10 hours flying and an additional 2 hours at the rental desk, I still ended up paying an extra $20 from the reservation price. Not exactly sure why, but I was not willing to spend another hour arguing over the extra $20.
