The staff really enjoy their jobs and are super helpful. I’m 70 years old and I had a blast. It’s certainly right in the middle of everything you could want (and more). Downtown San Diego is as eclectic as it gets, but I never felt unsafe. It’s a great area to ride a bike. I think you could say this is the perfect hostel; the key is you have to come from out of town (no locals).
