Pros. Given a small, quite dated room on top (7th) floor and asked for upgrade but none available. This was not a problem for us as plus points were that it was a clean, quiet room with a comfortable bed and excellent views over the city at night. The hotel itself was very nice apparently with some updating taking place that we never saw or heard whilst there. Credit must be given to the reception staff who were always very pleasant and never put out giving us information and helping us find the best excursions available. The breakfast was very good with a nice choice. We never dined at the hotel after breakfast as we were out and about most of the time but had a few drinks at the bar at night which we thought were expensive but it's roughly the same at most bars/eateries in the city. The hotel was in a very good quiet location within easy reach and walking distance from the main city area. We really liked it here and plan to book again next year as we didn't have time to visit many of the attractions having only booked a 3-night short break. We recommend this hotel. Excursions - A must is The Blue Lagoon a bit expensive at £125 p.p. with return coach travel but a wonderful experience and would visit again! This price was for the comfort pack that includes a towel and a free drink, it's about £21 p.p. dearer for the Premium pack which includes sandals and a robe. We found the Northern Lights a bit of a let down as we only saw a very small pale green 'glow' nowhere what you see in pictures even though it was a clear sky! The 'Hop On - Hop Off' red bus tour around city is also recommended.
Pros. The proximity to the city center and ocean, without any hustle and bustle. The staff was amazing and did whatever they could to accommodate. The views of the sea and the mountains were beautiful.
Cons. Breakfast and dinner buffets are expensive but in line with prices across Iceland. There were renovations creating some confusion on how to get to our room and some exit doors were closed.
Pros. The proximity to the city and although they didn't have a pool they give free passes to the nearby pool which has sauna steam room and hot tubs.
Cons. The breakfast buffet had the same food every day and there wasn't many options for those who didn't eat pork.
Pros. Helpful staff, nice view from our room
Cons. The hotel is extremely outdated and our room was dilapidated and tiny. No space to even turn around, horrible bed (with a dent down the middle, so my friend and I kept rolling into each other), cracks in the walls and ceiling, water/rust blocking the light from the ceiling fixture, peeling paint, cheap/ineffective shower curtain, windows that rattled, etc. We didn't complain or ask to change rooms because I can't imagine other rooms are any better. This hotel is a bit creepy and at least 10 years past necessary renovations. It was supposed to be a splurge and a treat for ourselves after 10 days of guesthouses, but was by far our worst accommodation in Iceland. Really disappointing for a Radisson Blu and for the amount we spent.
Pros. The included breakfast & friendly staff.
Cons. The drafty windows that scream all night because of how much wind they let through. The rooms & hotel need major updating, compared to the other comparable hotels the Blue Saga is seriously dragging behind with decor from the 60's
Pros. The staff
Cons. The outdated hotel with drafty windows
Pros. The hotel had complimentary breakfast, with many options and great food. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
Cons. The room we had was extremely outdated, it looked like my classroom in public school in the early 90's, with tile and colors from the 60's.
Pros. This is a avery poorly maintained hotel. The staff is not very informative about the Iceland and very unhelpful to customers. The rooms are not cleaned properly and customer complaints not attended promptly. In my five days stay, my room telephone never worked, shower head never fixed, it took two days tho fix the locker. I had to visit the front desk several times to complain but not much was done. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience. We were a group of 15 people that could not call room to room - had to use what is app to communicate and coordinate activities. So sad
Pros. The service is great, along with it being easily accessible to the area without being right in downtown/touristy area. View is pretty nice of the city from afar too. We enjoyed the hotel for 4 days while doing day trips around the ring road then walking to the nightlife or hotel bar in the evenings. The staff is pretty accommodating to any needs - the bartending staff had a real knowledge of the area and great tips. I would maybe stay here again, but bring my own pillows next time.
Cons. It is a bit outdated in terms of decor - but the real issue is the pillows. There was nothing to them and it left us with terrible neck strain. Wifi didn't work in our 6th floor room, but they tried to accommodate by placing a hotspot nearby - yet removed it before the end of our stay.
Pros. Staff was great. Good location but a 15 min walk to the city center with its shops and eateries.
Cons. Rooms were "used" at best. A lot of wear and tear and small holes and dents in walls and doorways. Some non functioning amenities and even issues with one of the elevator banks.
