Pros. The breakfast was good. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. The bathroom was in excellent condition. I enjoyed staying at the hotel a lot.
Pros. Nice even though it’s outdated.
Cons. Very disappointed. Went for a romantic weekend out of town. Would have been nice but there was a hockey tournament in town. I love hockey. I’ve played on many teams and at many tournaments but the kids were out of control. Unattended children parents drinking. This would have been unacceptable when I was on a team. The hotel had no intention of doing anything about it. Asked to have money refunded to go to a different hotel and they wouldn’t even hear us out. This should have been addressed. It went on well into “quiet hours” despite the security trying to control the kids.
Pros. Very clean hotel.
Pros. The location can't be beat -- right on a hill at the head of the main street, it has great views of the area, and you can walk to many shops and restaurants. We love room service, and though the menu is fairly standard, the pasta dish we had was unique and delicious. The used the nice, clean gym, and the pool is much bigger than your average hotel pool. The decor throughout seems outdated, but everything is clean and in good condition, so who cares? We are not here to see pretty things inside when there is so much beauty outside! But the best part is that it is dog friendly -- which was not easy to come by in Lake Placid. Though it is not a motel, we did have our own sliding door out to a beautiful, wide lawn, so it was easy to take the dog out for a quick walk or let her relieve herself on the way to the car. They even have a poop bag dispenser and trash can on the edge of the lawn near the hotel exit. (Note: You may not leave the dog unattended in your room, which is an understandable and probably wise policy, though that may be inconvenient in the heat of summer when you cannot leave the dog in your car...)
Pros. Location is the best around Lake Placid (Mirror Lake) area. Value for money is also the best. I stayed one night at another hotel that was almost as twice more expensive as this hotel but this one is way better.
Cons. My room didn't have a desk that is very popular nowadays at many other hotels. Hotel staff (front desk people) members are not very friendly. I felt like it was because I am not a European-American because I saw they were little different toward white people.
Pros. We liked almost everything about this place. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by very friendly staff who are all extremely welcoming and helpful. The hotel has amazing views and has a great lodge vibe. The pool and hot tub area is great. Beds are very comfortable. Very pet and family friendly. So nice to be able to travel with the whole family!
Cons. The breakfast buffet was a bit disappointing.. it was a nice setting - but the food and options were lackluster. The location is awesome.. however, after a night of eating and drinking in town, it can be rough to walk (or in our case push a stroller) all the way up the hill to the hotel.
Pros. We liked the location. Close enough to walk into town and not have to drive but not so close that you heard all the hustle and bustle of town. The views are excellent. Rooms and amenities were very good.
Cons. Parking isn't really convenient, especially if you have quite a bit of things to bring to your room. The wifi connection didn't perform very well, may be an issue if you're there for business. The cost versus quality of food onsite was overpriced.
Pros. we had a very enjoyable stay. received a upgrade to our room at check in which was very nice. a busy weekend with lots of hockey and families all having fun. and snow for a change!
Pros. Except for the steep climb up to the entrance, this is great hotel.
Pros. We loved the great room and the view. We did not avail ourselves of the pool, or restaurants so cannot comment. The location in town is great but beware the hill! It is walking distance to town but you have to account for the hill.
Cons. We stayed two nights and the room was not cleaned! I have never had that happen before! We stayed in a very basic room which was above some kind of steam vent. Walking up the hill can be tough at the end of the day but I kind of enjoyed the challenge. It was a little icy since we had a lot of rain instead of snow.
