We were skeptical upon seeing the hotel's appearance when we arrived. We had read reviews and were not totally surprised at how desolate the place seemed at first. I'm sure it is hard to maintain such an old building with limited customer traffic. I mean really, how many people choose to visit Death Valley in July? Lots of history at this place! Employees were friendly and helpful. Room was older. Cleanliness was excellent. Beds and sheets were extremely comfortable. We slept well. Window air conditioning unit worked as well as possible for the 120 degree heat. We were comfortable. Shower/bath area was clean, with plenty of hot water and great water pressure. Towels were thick and luxurious. This important stuff was excellent! The location was great for our exploration of Death Valley. Facilities look like they could be used as a horror movie set, but that's a MAJOR part of the charm. We got quite a kick out of staying here. We very much enjoyed it and would visit again!
Cons. Health hazard, impossible to stay. Big hole in wall next to air conditioner.
