Aside from a great location and unique grand deluxe room - I probably would not recommend this place. There is a pungent smell of sewage upon entering the lobby that really ruined my day every-time I had to walk across it. The staff was friendly but still managed to screw up my reservation made 3 months ago: I reserved city view grand deluxe - instead they had oversold their rooms and put me on the first floor where we couldn’t even open our curtains without someone on the pool deck or rooftop staring right into our room. Needless to say that was not what I had reserved. When I brought it up to the front desk, the first staff member was nice and said she can only move us the following day. They didn’t. we ate that cost. The next day the staff member was extremely rude, said he was the manager, and unhelpful which is really rare experience in Thailand, I was so ticked off by how they spoke that I just hung up and left for the day. Oh well, we left it alone… in between the horrible smell in the lobby and treatment by staff (overbooking a room reserved months ago), we just didn’t care to waste anymore of our vacation time bothering with it. Our room was nice, the shower took a very long time to be warm or hot and when the temperature finally regulated, it would switch from cool to hot every few seconds. Also, there was a scant amount of body wash provided. Elevators barely worked with the key card provided. We had dinner on the pool deck and the server brought me my bill literally right after they had brought me my food, not even a chance to order more and we didn’t finish our meal because it wasn’t good for the price point. Not really sure what’s up with solitaire but I will never come back here or recommend it to any of my friends when there are way better spots with much better services. The bell boy and staff however were very nice and deserve better.
Excellent Hotel, great value for money, the only downer was got a bumb steer from one of the staff.
