Whether you take the Silver Star route directly to Miami, or the segmented route with a Thruway Bus transfer to Orlando then the Silver Meteor train to Miami, checked bags are allowed. In Tampa Union Station they offer a checked baggage service along with baggage assistance if required. The permitted amount of checked bags are four items each weighing less than 50 pounds. If you’re taking the Silver Star Amtrak with the direct transit to Miami, pets are allowed on board with you if you’re traveling in Coach Class.
