Top tips for finding cheap flights to Australia

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Australia flight deals.
  • When flying to Australia, disabled passengers should consider using the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) - Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) flight route. Travelers with disabilities, mobility issues, and special needs can receive airport special assistance based on their requests, like baggage assistance, medical and safety assistance, and specially equipped wheelchairs at LAX Airport.
  • Airport lounges are typically thought of as one of the best places to unwind for passengers as they wait for their flights. Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is the airport of choice for most economic travelers who wish to relax at an affordable lounge before boarding their flights from the US to Australia. Before takeoff, budget travelers can simply and affordably unwind in the Delta Sky Club.
  • Parents who want to take their children on vacation to Australia from the US can think about taking a flight on Virgin Australia from Los Angeles (LAX) to Sydney (SYD). This airline offers nonstop service between the airports of LAX and SYD. By using direct flights, you can travel from the US to Australia in the shortest amount of time feasible, lowering the risk that your children will become exhausted before they arrive in Australia.
  • If your flight from the US is scheduled to land in Australia at night, think about the possibility of lodging in a closer hotel to SYD Airport. The Aerotel Hotel, located inside the international Terminal 1, is one of the best and nearest places to stay when visitors arrive in Sydney late at night.
  • Los Angeles Airport or Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) are two major airport options for those travelers who want to go from the USA to Australia as quickly as possible. These are the main US airports that serve as the bases for airlines that operate direct flights to SYD Airport in Australia.
  • The vast southern continent of Australia is served by a series of international airports that link its major regions with the outside world. Perth Airport (PER) and Port Hedland International Airport (PHE) are gateways to the plains of Western Australia, while Darwin International Airport (DRW) unlocks the region of the Northern Territory.
  • The more populous southern half of the continent is dominated by the cities of Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne in the east, all of which provide numerous flights from the US to Australia. Virgin Australia offers nonstop service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Sydney (SYD) and Melbourne (MEL), while Jetstar provides flights from Honolulu (HNL) to Sydney and Brisbane.
  • The eastern territory of Queensland provides the longest uninterrupted stretch of coastland in Australia, anchored by Brisbane Airport (BNE) and its city at the most southern point. Brisbane Airport is a good starting point to explore northern points along the Australian coast of the Coral Sea, or you can stay closer to home after your flight from the US to Australia and discover the legendary Gold Coast.
  • There are no major airports that service the interior of the Australian continent, so if you wish to visit, you’ll have to fly from Brisbane Airport into a regional airport like Mt. Isa Airport or Charleville Airport. Both provide access to the Western reaches of Queensland, into the heart of the province of the Northern Territory and the state of South Australia.
  • To explore the northern reaches of Australia, it will be necessary to get a flight from Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne into Darwin International Airport (DRW), which is the gateway to the area. From there, you can set your sights on Derby and Wyndham in Western Australia as well as the coastal areas of the Northern Territory and Queensland.

The flight attendances were very helpful and friendly ! Dinner and breakfast were great . The seat was not too comfortable though .

The air New Zealand employees who assisted us with wheelchair aid on Auckland made our transfer from flight to the next seamless. Also were amazing in helping with our luggage and customs in Brisbane.

New Zealand crew were attentive. We were not informed that we needed transit document to pass through New Zealand. A checkin employee helped with this for which we were thankful.

Overall good. We had to transfer to Bradly terminal. We had requested wheelchair assistance. The bus that picked us up had to wait for other passengers. The wait was long. Then, at the Bradly terminal we had to wait an extended period of time for the wheel chair assistance. These delays caused tension at checked in and resulted in arriving at the gate as passengers were boarding.

The entire process was excellent! The economy sits are a bit snug so I'll have to be sure to purchase premier or business class next time but, other than that, food, service, attendants were exceptional. Gate agents and ticket agents too!

Can you please process refund. Mum died and dad went to Pakistan to bury her after cancelling flight.

All was good, the only thing was it didn't run on time.

Great meal. Best seats ever! They need to teach other airlines how to do that.

The staff and crew on board were excellent. Business class however, was very weird. I thought we would have individual pods, but the way it was set up was unexpected. Not very private and If you wanted to lay down, you had to have an entire bed made up for you by the crew, rather than how Delta one works where you could just lie down whenever you feel like it. It was a 16 hour flight. I chose not to have my bed made, and that turned out to be a good idea because everybody who had their bed made had to wait for the crew to roll up their mattresses. So strange!

Food was not good. We asked for Muslim food and it was weird tasteless type of boiled veges.

I upgraded to first class only to find out that I still had no access to the sky lounge without a sky miles card or AmEx (something that should be emphasized outside of the fine print!) Also, no food or drink service provided during the flight, so I basically paid 4x more just for “free” checked baggage and a bigger seat. Not worth it.

I appreciated friendly service from check-in, to boarding, to in-flight amenities! Attendants were accommodating and helpful. Thank you! Elaine

Delta was really good about being transparent with why we were delayed it’s just that’s the plane was really old and outdated and a lot of the comfort and amenities we know Delta to have did not shine through

Bottom seat cushion is almost non existent. Very uncomfortable seat.

Delta was great the entertainment was outdated. Screen was very small and didn’t work.

Flight did not have seat back entertainment and the wifi was iffy.

Pretty standard flight. Delta has a good selection of movies.

The WiFi has been awful on my last few Delta Air Lines flights.

The seats are uncomfortable, feels like a small seat pad on plywood.

The seats are uncomfortable and there was no power to recharge a phone.

Terrible. 6 hour delay with no explanations and only 15 dollars in food credits. A disaster. I'll just leave it at that.

Much better than I expected for such a long flight.

Flight was cancelled about 1.5 hours before departure. Replacement flight provided scheduled 1 hour later. Late boarding, late departure and arrived Melbourne nearly 2 hours after originally scheduled.

Good - better than other airlines in terms of food and seat comfort.

It’s a very long flight and there are so many people on board. Perhaps a warm washcloth now and then to freshen up

The crew was very helpful to my family, especially when my daughter became sick during the flight. Will fly with them again.

Too many passengers are bringing on too many large items as part of carry on baggage where it should be checked in. This is not the fault of Qantas but the stupid mindset passengers have now about trying to bring anything and everything on as carry on luggage where it should be checked in.

Better than expected, normally I don't use this airline because they are too expensive for me, but if you can afford it, good on you, you won't regret it. Regards.

The flight was delayed over 2 hours. We had to wait on the plane and the air conditioning was turned off. The food was average and the cutlery was wooden!

Perfect. The flight was on time and the crew were very friendly and helpful.

The plane was clean. The staff was excellent. The flight attendants were very good. Enjoyable flight. Overall. The seats in the back are too small but, will always be.

Overall good flight. The pilots were excellent. It was a nice flight, but the seats were a little uncomfortable.

There was no air on the plane and it was very hot.

Flight crew was amazing! I don't like that the Polaris seats are side-by-side.

Not enough room between rows and food was gross. $160 baggage charge?! Never again.

Flight was 3 1/2 hour delayed with no credit or meal vouchers

Smoothly flight, pleasant flight attendants. I wish there were better food choices.

Everything was awful Flight attendant was condescending, rude and not helpful at all. Small outdated plane. No service, uncomfortable seats. Flight attendant was really the worst. He used hand gestures to communicate instead of words and whenever he used words he was condescending.

They need to improve their boarding process. Group 1 and/or paying first class passengers shouldn't be in the middle of boarding process

late departure due to some unspecified issue with ventilating the cabin. They got it running but it was FREEZING for the whole flight. I asked for a blanket but they didn't provide one. They could not turn up the heat. it was quite miserable.

United agent at FLL excellent - due 55 min conx at ORD rerouted us on an earlier departure via DEN and got home 5 hours earlier than expected

I bought a ticket from Brussels to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA via Montreal. When I went to the airport, I learned that I needed a Canadian visa. When I bought the ticket online, there was no warning saying "If you are not a US or Canadian citizen; You need a Canadian visa." I asked for my money back, but the staff at the airport said they couldn't help me. I said, "Make the ticket open, I'll fly later," and they said no. I looked for this information on Air Canada's website. They've hidden it so well that it's impossible to find it easily. I understand that Air Canada makes millions of dollars in unfair profits by selling tickets this way. Why don't they ask when purchasing? They don't ask; because they're making money. Every year, perhaps thousands of tickets are subject to this situation. I will use all my rights and complain everywhere. Maybe they won't give me my money back, but I would advise anyone buying ticket to be careful from now on.

Friendlier staff who are nice to the elderly who need assistance

They intentionally delayed the flight by half an hour to accommodate a few fools who didn’t show up in time to clear customs. I missed my connector, missed an important meeting, and was charged a rebooking fee. Never again

Never flew with AirCanada before. Was a super duper flight every time and on time! No changes or delays!

Everything went very smoothly and the staff was courteous and friendly. I was really happy and pleased with how well the plane was flown because the departure, descent and landing were really smooth with no sudden drops. The plane’s interior was clean and nice and new in appearance.

Air Canada is the best company I’ve ever flown with. If I had the money, I would only fly with them.

Hated charging my devices. The location of the outlet was inconvenient. And no USB connection. So outdated.

Lots of turbulence and had to reroute to Calgary, spending the night there, arriving home a day later. The staff were organized and pleasant, even though they were stressed and tires

Terrible - flight was flagged for fraudulent payment from being booked via Kayak. Requested to rebook with original credit card or provide new payment. Air Canada stay at JFK did not know how to process new payment. Had to fly from La Guardia 2 1/2 hours later instead with Air Canada.
