Not worth it for all the extra money they make you pay would have rather found a nicer hotel
Avoid this hotel at almost any cost! What you think you're paying is not your final charge. They have an absurd 40$ "amenity fee" along with a 10% "reservation processing fee" which may or may not be disclosed by the travel site you book through. This is a ridiculous shake down and nothing they provide warrants these extra charges. For me, it was a complete blindside upon check-in, one which management would do nothing about. Beside the major issue of obscene extra charges, this place is in disrepair. This hotel has changed hands twice in the last 2 years: from the Cambria to the Audrey to the current Hotel Collection incarnation. It used to be very nice and still shows glimmers of its former self in some places. However, the bathroom in my room had peeling wallpaper worse than you're likely to see in a cheap motel. Also, it looked like someone had recently moved the TV stand a few inches and the revealed carpet underneath was disgusting. The good: this hotel has a great location, nothing will change that. I also found the bed to be quite comfortable. Staff and management are polite but were clearly not empowered to do anything about the hidden fees. Bottom line is that there are so many other great places to stay in this area of Chicago, choose one of them instead.
Pros. fantastic location
Pros. The staff was very friendly, attentive ands accommodating. They text me to see if they could be of service then produced the sewing kit I asked for when I lost a button...
Cons. I went up to check out the rooftop bar at 8:30 p.m. on Friday night and the door was locked, I was waved away by an employee who did not offer anything else, like if and when the bar would be opening...
Pros. The staff from the front door staff set the tone of excellence and was carried by all staff of this wonderful hotel! Excellent value and perfect location....will be back!
Pros. The service was great and the roof top bar was also pretty wonderful.
Cons. I had no problems with this hotel at all, I enjoyed my stay all around.
Pros. The hospitality staff were incredible! Provided my sister and I with great information, scheduled us for a cruise that was truly informative, and obtained a dinner reservation on short notice. I can't say enough about how helpful and welcoming they were.
Pros. The location was excellent. Right off of Michigan Ave. The beds were comfortable.
Cons. The hotel needs some updates. The only thing that made it 'Hip and trendy" was the decor. We could see the light from the hallway shining through into our room because the gaps between the walls and the door was ridiculous. It was a built in night light. No information about the hotel was in the room either. Didn't know who to call or where to get anything. Glad we didn't pay more than what we did. And by the way, the tacky, shiny, red wall paper in the bathroom was terrible. =]
Pros. Good size for the price. Great king sized bed, good views even on the fourth floor. Cafe/bar was great - very good coffee. Location is perfect. Right next to Michigan avenue.
Cons. The revolving door is a little heavy.
Pros. Almost everything was pretty great
Cons. Carpet was a little off putting
