After traveling a long way with our 1 and 9 year old we were so happy to arrive and get our car. There was no one at the budget rental counter for us to pick up our reservation. 20 minutes go by and someone finally shows up. I was informed insurance was mandatory which was not mentioned in the booking process. Then there was a $1500 hold on top of that placed on my account as a deposit. I was also not made aware of that and it should be standard to mention both of those things during the booking process. The woman at the counter instructed us to go wait outside for her coworker to get us. It is hot and we had so much to carry including the baby. We waited another 20 minutes outside until I decided to go back in and ask the woman where her coworker was. She called him and said he was outside so I went out and no one was there. I went back inside she called him again and then he found me. The car had much wear and tear the price was ok but felt like a lot for a car with close to 80,000 miles. The return was easy but we were instructed to call a number given to us 15 minutes before we arrived. Never experienced that before. Overall I give my experience a low rating BUT that is due to the customer service. Not the car itself
Do NOT use this rental company/location. I wish I had taken the other bad reviews seriously but I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and given Budget is a global company, I figured it would be fine. I booked a compact SUV for a week starting 5/30 with a pickup time of 11pm. Our flight was diverted to Nicaragua due to bad weather so we were late in landing. I was at the desk by 1:15am. While in Nicaragua, I called Budget via phone and was told that the location had been made aware of the diversion and delay and that I have 24 hours to pick up my car. I was assured that there was no issue at all in my delay. Additionally, I spoke with a chat representative online who was able to confirm with the the local team that my car would be 100% held until 2am. When I arrived at the desk, the representative told me that they had already given my car away as they waited any hour for me to arrive. I tried to explain the above and the gentlemen was completely unhelpful, only offering me a pickup truck after much back and forth. However, he was going to charge me an additional $700 for the truck. There was another passenger behind me who was also on my flight who's car had been given away as well. I eventually walked down to a different counter and was able to secure a last minute car with a lovely gentlemen. I truly encourage everyone to stay away from this place. They left me stranded at the airport at 1:30am with no options and couldn't even have bothered to apologize.
Reservation was not honored at the Budget counter. They tried to charge more than double of what was already booked
Click bait tactics. The price was higher at point of pick up
They force you to buy insurance even though you’re covered by your credit card ( if applicable) The car was okay but had a lot of scratches and dings around it ( specially the front bumper )and when I returned the car the guy try to blame me for a damage in the lower right side in the bumper even though it was already marked when I received the car in the beginning, also the key fob didn’t work so I have to manually lock and unlock the doors of the car
I booked the van 3 months before my vacation. They told me that the van was not available and that there was nothing they could do. I did my check in a day before to confirm. Had confirmation number and everything. I also called a week before but no one picked up. Horrible experience. Will never book again
